Moscow River

Moskva river length exceeds 500 kilometers and covers an area of more than 17 thousand square kilometers. The river is connected with the great Volga river through the Moscow Canal. The 128 kilometers of the Moscow Canal were constructed in 1930s by Gulag prisoners and during the process more that 20 thousand people's died. This connection made Moscow the "port of five seas" as it provides access to the Baltic Sea, White Sea, Caspian Sea, Azov Sea and the Black Sea.
