The statue of Sveta Sofia built in 2000 and replaced a statue of Lenin. Much controversial between the locals about this statue because the erotic appearance of it doesn't look appropriate to a Christian Saint. It is possible that the sculptor wanted to show the attractiveness of wisdom (sophia in Greek)

  2. @mishalininy well yes. It doesn’t look like a Christian Saint, but from the other hand, it is claimed that Sofia is not named after the the martyr Sofia but from ayia sofia which is the third person in Holy trinity. If the sculptor had this in mind then probably he wanted to show the beauty of wisdom (btw there is also an owl in her hand which is the symbol of wisdom too)
